Steve Berry

A native of Chicago, Illinois, and an AACM member, Steve Berry's experience as a professional musician has offered him the opportunity to work with a number of local and national artists. During the course of his career he has recorded with the Spinners, Jerry Butler, Ramsey Lewis, Lil' Milton, The Chi-Lites, Shadow Vignettes, Malachi Thompson's Freebop Band and Africa Brass. He has also performed on many commercial and record sessions, including Marshall Vente's Project Nine, Shadow Vignettes, and the AACM Big Band.

In addition to performing with the Chicago Jazz Ensemble Steve has worked with many local organizations including the Lyric Opera of Chicago Orchestra and the Grant Park Symphony. Nationally, he has performed with artists such as Lou Rawls, Natalie Cole, Edward Wilkerson, Slide Hampton, James Brown, Tony Bennett, and Frank Sinatra. He can also be seen as co-host to a jam session on Chicago's South Side with Ernest Dawkin.

Besides New Horizons Ensemble, Berry is a member of Marshall Vente's Project Nine, Shadow Vignettes, and the AACM Big Band.
