Bernard Mixon
Bernard Mixon made his professional debut touring the Midwest with Chicago bandleader, Phil Cohran. He later studied with other artists from the AACM (The Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians) and became the featured vocalist with their world-famous Big Band under the direction of Muhal Richard Abram during the 70's. He also performed with such jazz notabls as Edward Wilkerson, Joseph Jarman, Don Moye, Von Freeman Henry Threadgill -Anthony Brackston and Horace Smith and the Notebenders. In 1-990, he toured Europe and the Orient with George Lewis and Edward Wilkerson He has also appeared a'- the Verona lazz- Festival and the Chicago international jazz Festival.
Following a 1991 European engagement with the Swiss avante-garde group Nachtluft, Mr. Mixon was featured at the Groningen Festival in The Netherlands with the Guus Janssen Orkest and later invited to perform in "Telephonia" - a live transatlantic broadcast also featuring Butch Morris, Christian Marclay and Phi! Waxman honoring Switzerland's 700th anniversary. Mr. Mixon is currently performing with the vocal group The Moods who perform vintage works of the 40's and 50's including those of the ink Spots and the Platters. In addition to his musical work, Mr. Mixon has appeared in a number of commercial films, television programs media ads and professional theatre
